St John Ambulance has moved HQ!

Post by commsmc » Wed Jan 06, 2010 8:20 am

St John has moved it's HQ from Surry Hills to Burwood including the comms centre... look for the building with the mast on top with 10 or so UHF + VHF folded dipoles and yagis :)

Strangely enough I think I saw that building this morning as the train left Burwood Station
On the Parramatta Rd side - in Deane Street if i recall correctly.
Has a stack of aerials and microwave dishes.
Stands out like a sore thumb

That's the one! The blue glass building on Deane St right next the station with the mast of aerials - you can't miss it. VHF and UHF antennas for the National St John radio network.

Had a second look last wednesday - just a stack of aerials. No dishes.

Came across some frequencies in the VHF Hi band for St Johns. Did not have them in my search lists before. All are Aust wide used frequencies.
I have only listed the TX sites in Sydney as there are alot more in the country areas.
150.900 - TX sites - Horsley Park, Petersham, Hornsby
151.125 - TX sites - Horsley Park, Kurrajong, Berowra, Mt Riverview, Somersby
162.3625 - TX sites - Horsley Park, Kurrajong, Mt Riverview

They have built a multistory apartment block right next door.It now blocks the yagi aerials pointing to the west. Will they still get proper reception to the repeater or have to mount the aerials higher (which will mean a very high mast) ?
