Coastal Radio Network
Surf Life Saving NSW own and operate a comprehensive Radio Network for Lifesaving Services in NSW that connects all 129 clubs, Lifeguards, RWCs, IRB, Offshore Boats, helicopters and support services with our state operations centre in Sydney. We are currently migrating all Branches from analogue to a digital network which will improve performance and give GPS capability for all units in the field. Currently Mid North Coast, Sydney Northern Beaches, Sydney (Bondi to Burning Palms) and Illawarra are on the digital network with Central Coast and then Far North Coast scheduled in the coming year.

Our State Operations Centre in Sydney manages the whole state network, taking calls from Police, Ambulance and rescue services before identifying and tasking the most appropriate assets on the beach to attend any incident.

To operate this extensive network and our communications with Emergency Services, the State Operations Centre is staffed by professional and highly trained operators working from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, 7 days a week supported by a network of Volunteer State Duty Officers who monitor all emergency channels after hours.

Radio Re-Programming
Club radios do not need to be re-programed this year while all Branch and Support Operations radios need to be reprogrammed as there are some significant changes in the Branch profile including the addition of an Emergency Services
Channel (ESO SURF 57) for local, direct contact with police, Ambulance, SES or Marine Rescue.
Other changes include activation of GPS location feature and a 10 second hang time on Scan, reverting to Channel 3.
Complete instruction will be circulated prior to season commencement.
At police request, no patrol or club radio is authorized to be programmed with or transmit on the ESO SURF channel.
In keeping with current policy, SLSNSW will cover the cost of re-programming, Branch and Support Operations radios

So the obvious question is, what frequency is ‘ESO SURF 57’? ESO AIR 1, NS AIR 1, or something different?

I am wondering whether ESO SURF 57 is the link to GRN Talkgroup 10019?
I heard it active about a month ago - Lifesaver heliocopter talking to VKG Sydney in P25 Clear, so its still in use
