Looks like the latest profile is V12.0.3 in the apx8500
has the following zones;
-Region North
-Region East
-Region South
-Region West
-Simplex 1A/1B-2A/2B-3A/3B-4A/4B
-Old Field OPS
-Liaison Digital
-Liaison Analogue
-ACT ESA
-QLD QFES
-SES State
-SES Field Ops
-SES North
-SES East
-SES South

Interesting they have included QLD QFES, is it a trunking profile or conventional profile? - The Trunking side would require AES encryption keys. Unless its just Field Ops/Fireground.

You could achieve that a lot cheaper with an APX6500 instead of the megabuck 8500.

I can understand going 8500 if it's only a few hundred more than a 6500 (not sure of their pricing for either). BUT my concern is them being used as a regular VHF fireground radio instead of their intended PMR/FOPS. I'll have to see if I can con the insurance company to an 8500 instead of a 6500 if anything ever happens to my perosnal XTS5000 lol I'd love an 8000 for the car and 8500 for portable. Only need a Q split 6500 for the house have all else there ready to dual brick/triband.

Is there to be a new profile released for the XTS handhelds? I'd be interested in a copy if there is. I'll have to look at changing my Lakes and Gosford soon.

Just out of curiosity do we have a list of areas other than Macarthur who are 100% GRN ONLY now with 0% PMR? No use having old P25 frequencies that aren't in use taking up modes that could be used in trunking NAS.

Was some 6500's installed only 2 days ago into a certain vehicle, and it only had V11.x in it. Must be for the 8500's only at the moment, same goes with the portables, couple of new ones this week only had V11.x in them as well..

v11 firmware, CPS &/or codeplug version?? If firmware that seems REALLY old for new radios, makes me wonder if they've had them in storage for some years before rolling them out.

There is a thread here:
http://scansydney.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1347

Currently 4 areas that are GRN only (no PMR). Most others use the GRN almost exclusively, but the PMR channels are still registered on the ACMA, and with the P25 channels still in the profile.

Heard Ulladulla SES down here on RFS PMR last night, they were delivering meals to the fire fighters at Bemboka.
