How do they do their updates? Are they manually pushed out by techs coming out to the stations and touching the radios?

Yes we they told to go to our local fire control and Where they install it

Looks like the latest profile is V12.0.3 in the apx8500
has the following zones;
-Region North
-Region East
-Region South
-Region West
-Simplex 1A/1B-2A/2B-3A/3B-4A/4B
-Old Field OPS
-Liaison Digital
-Liaison Analogue
-ACT ESA
-QLD QFES
-SES State
-SES Field Ops
-SES North
-SES East
-SES South

Nothing has changed for region east except central coast
Because of the LVR trial

Good grief, where are they rolling APX8500s out? Those things cost a pretty penny!!

That's a LOT of extra money just to include a few seldom-used VHF channels!

Plus, you wouldn't want the main radio in the truck sitting on some fireground channel anyway, you may miss a call to get out of an area in a hurry, or divert to a higher priority tasking or something.

I’m curious as to why the RFS radios seem to include the SES TG’s, but not vice versa? Surely permission would be needed from the SES, yet it’s not reciprocated? Or is it only the PMR channels? Anybody able to shed light?

I’ve heard the RFS on SES channels during storms in the past, but the RID used was an SES one, so assumed they had handed a portable over so they could be tasked. The same RFS tanker was also communicating with their RFS comms after being deployed on the SES channel.

Locked
