RFS Callsigns

Does anyone know where of has a list of RFS call signs they would like to share here on ScanSydney

Not exactly sure what you're after here? Most RFS callsigns are based on the D/T/Z or the brigade name + the category of the appliance.

Are you looking for a list of brigades?

It's nowhere near complete (or even accurate) but you can try the Wikipedia page.

State mitigation have changed their callsigns from eg. 116 to '17 Golf' etc. And a couple of other ones like Support 1, southwest 1 (talkgroup 10046) ill list some more examples as i hear them.

With the new SMS callsigns I've been hearing what sounds like "Sydney North WAYO", "Southern WAYO", "Sydney South Acting WAYO" etc. and I'm wondering if anyone knows what WAYO (or whatever it is) stands for?

Guessing the "O" may be Officer as they seem to be of a higher rank but the rest has me stumped??

I had a quick look from our discussion before, theres a Middle Arm/WAYO down near Goulburn, but i doubt that's got anything to do with these callsigns.

Middle arm / Mt Wayo brigade has nothing to do with these callsigns. they were 2 brigades that were merged a few years ago due to lack of volunteers. they however still have 2 sheds. The old Middle arm brigade area is directly north to NNW of Goulburn, The old MT Wayo area is roughly NW of Goulburn bound on the northern side of Crookwell Rd out towards Pejar dam.

Purely speculation on my part but I equate a "WAYO" to something like a groupie, but not as high ranking as a "Supervisor" or a "Manager"?

There seems to be quite a few WAYO's, not so many Supervisors and only one Manager that I've been hearing so far, I'd still like to know what WAYO (if it's actually spelled like it sounds) stands for?

BTW, and I know this is getting off topic but I found a map of the proposed RFS D/T/Zs to be upgraded to P25 and the schedule, seems about half of all districts will be P25 by June next year (2013) or at least that's the plan, some seem to be ahead of the curve already?

I believe it is WAO or such. Work Assessment Officer.
These guys do site visits to follow up on submitted jobs, classify job requirements, etc.
