New Responder callsigns?

Post by cartman » Sat Aug 15, 2009 10:04 am

I was listening yesterday on a couple of the ambulance channels (both metro and central coast) and I could have sworn they were using a new allocation of responder callsigns eg Responder 140.

This is in addition to the responder vehicle numbers becoming the Supervisor 180-199 series and also some low Supervisor/inspector numbers over the last couple of month or two. Anybody else noticed this?

These may be the Ex-Ambulance Rescue Operators who opted to take up the offers of moving over into the Responder Role.

One Ambo I know, said a lot of them have moved into the Responder Role. Many are not impressed with it, as unlike the Original Responders who were all Level 5 Paramedics, now they have Level 1’s doing the role too.

I once heard a Rescue 90 on Ambo North who seemed to be a mobile unit attending a multi-drowning on the Northern Beaches. I haven't heard them since.

What is even more confusing some channels call them "Supervisor" eg Supervisor 122, Supervisor 133 but others are called responders eg "Responder 131"
Maybe a distinction because of difference in qualifications

Don't Quote me on this, but from what I can workout / understand from attending Person Trapped MVA's in the past couple of months, these are the types of Responders:

Supervisors - “Insensitive Care Paramedics”
Responders – L1, L2, L3c Paramedics
EPC - “Insensitive Care Paramedics” working in the EPC role.

The District Officers or Inspectors (like our NSWFB Operational Commanders/Inspectors) who use to use the Callsign Supervisors are now just calling themselves Inspectors it seems.

I think you mean intensive (not insensitive).

Ah Spell check got me again LOL

But yea, I have seen a couple Ambo's who seemed a little insensitive, even I can seem a little insensitive to some locals at a bin fire at 3am in the morning.
