Well they're boned here then as Telstra 4G is rubbish. We live in town only a few blocks from the cbd and had to disable 4G when we were with Telstra as the phones refused to make or rx calls on 4G. 3G850 not so much an issue. Optus for some reason has really taken over coverage in the area I'm living and all around it.

The FRNSW MDT rollout occurred some years back now, including regional areas. I saw Coffs Harbour with one installed when I stopped there last year, and I’d be surprised if other appliances on the MNC aren’t equiped with them. They are LTE and UMTS compatible, just like a mobile phone or portable AP, so will operate fine on Telstra 3G, just slower.

The NSWPF use the same network for their MDT’s and get pretty good coverage (NSWA also use the same network, if they use MDT’s up there).
