FRNSW Console ID's - Why so many?

Post by Scotty » Sun Oct 20, 2013 8:01 pm

Can anybody explain why FRNSW has so many console ID's? I've logged 180 odd through UniTrunker, although 1 or 2 of these appear to be PMR bridges/links. Considering the same operators are heard all the time it seems odd there are so many ID's.

I have always assumed each ID related to individual consoles, but am now thinking that each channel/TG on each console has it's own ID. That would explain the number of ID's logged. Any ideas?

You got it right... one ID per console per resource... and yes it comes to a lot of IDs. It has to be done that way. That will change soon with the MCC7500 consoles.

Cheers

Richard

Crikey! I'd hate to think how many ID's would be needed if the cops ever switched to the GRN.

Thanks for confirming Richard. Appreciated.

Well they will have the MCC7500s too Scotty so that problem will soon be history. Just think how many IDs it will release for real radios!

Cheers

Have they already gone to the MCC7500's? They changed all their console ID's recently to 4 digit ones. Instead of the Vote Number.

There are two consoles in Alexandria that are currently MCC7500's, they were put in the last week or so.

Indeed they are. Looks like most consoles are now in the low 20000xx range.

Noticed in the last month or so the old 207xxx RIDS being used, presumably in relation to the fire emergency (20760xx range)
