468.8875 Analog at Lithgow

Post by citabria » Fri Mar 02, 2018 9:22 pm

Hi Guys,

I can get this channel at my home QTH here in Sydney - does anyone else in the area get it as well? It covers a huge area...

Cheers,
Matt

Yep. I get it at my place too. It's simulcast on one of the 78MHz freqs as well.

Same transmissions on 79.4375MHz which booms in full strength at my location.

ACMA has 79.4375MHz listed at Mt Edith, but I have a sneaking suspicion it is actually at Kurrajong Heights which ACMA has 78.4375 (not active) listed there. Out by 1MHz!

Hi Mike,

I don't think its a Kurrajong Heights, I am only a few KM line of site from there and i get nothing here on 79.4375.

Mt Edith would make sense - VHF low band travels the distance quite well and the signal is shooting over the top of Kev's metaphorical head. (Sorry Kev)

Matt

That's interesting Kev, Matt. I assumed wrong. I mean, it's full strength at my place!.

There must be a geographical corridor channeling the signal from Mt. Edith to the South Western suburbs.

I'm also receiving that channel on 78.500Mhz (Mt. Lambie?) and 78.200Mhz (Hassans Walls?) with a very weak signal.

A lot of stuff shoots over my real head as well Matt :-) At my location the start of the Blue Mountains shades me from a lot of RF west of me. All I hear on the UHF freq mentioned is a faint P25 encrypted signal. I've never had success receiving anything from Lithgow at home.

Regards

Kev

At work we looked at a link from Horsley Park to Mt Edith several years ago. Yes there is a LOS path.

468.8875 - is this on P25 or NFM

Is there any other VHF Low rebroadcasts going on within the sydney area?
