Tamworth

Last week, I heard VKG Tamworth ask for a radio check from cars in the Lismore area...they got a couple of "loud and clear" responses.
Shortly after, they asked for a check by VKG Newcastle..."loud and clear".
Nothing since.

Testing some sort of emergency back-up or bypass...??

Yep. All the centres are linked so they can take up the slack in the event of major incidents or disasters

Good question. I am pretty sure they are landlines because there have been problems in the past due to Telstra lines being damaged. The links between the comms centres and the transmitter sites are microwave.

Have heard that problem with the local link to Newcastle, too. That's what prompted me to ask.
