Thanks Matt, got it now!
The little two-seater plane in "The Gods Must Be Crazy II" had one of those ballistic parachutes (which it used several times throughout the movie) and I remember thinking then what a great idea it was and why didn't more aircraft have them, I bet these guys were pretty happy to have one as well!
