Responsibilities
The Commander Police Transport Command provides leadership, direction and management ensuring the provision of an integrated and coordinated approach to policing across the State’s public transport network. The Commander develops and implements strategies, policing services and reform initiatives to give effect to Government and organisational priorities of crime reduction and a more highly visible police presence across the public transport network. The Commander will deliver on key performance indicators that have been determined by the NSW Police Force, in consultation with Transport for NSW, to ensure members of the public utilising the transport network do so in the safest environment possible.

Selection criteria
•Executive management ability including the ability to lead and manage a diverse team, identify development needs and manage performance issues.
•Corporate level business planning skills and a proven capacity to undertake strategic planning.
•Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of corporate and government strategies and priorities affecting NSW Police Force.
•Capacity to implement proactive crime reduction initiatives based on efficient, effective and intelligence based policing.
•Proven management ability and experience in a large and complex organisation.
•Sound knowledge of political and social issues affecting policing.
•Excellent communication and presentation skills to deal with a range of internal and external contacts, including media and to represent NSW Police Force on external committees.
