I am a new subscriber. Hello.
I bought the PSR-800 because of the clarity of the display, my eyesight is failing very fast. It is a gem.
Presently programmed for the local Newcastle GRN and the separate Police P25.
I like it so much I'm thinking of selling some of my 500s but will keep my 600s and order another 800.
I had help to program the 800. The software comes with it from GRE. For 10 days I stared at the screens in the software until a friend showed me how to check the 4 tabs in the "advanced" menu and the software screens came alive waiting for input. After that it wasn't too difficult.

Life is good.

On August 13th 2011, GRE stated that the PSR-800's support for P25 Phase II TDMA cannot be confirmed until it is tested live on a system that uses the final Phase II TDMA standard.

On December 18, 2011, a PSR-800 user confirmed that the PSR-800 cannot currently decode P25 Phase II TDMA (only X2-TDMA).

Uniden has confirmed that none of their current models support TDMA in any form, nor do they have the requisite hardware to do so, therefore cannot be made TDMA compatible via a firmware update.

I found that bit hard to believe - TDMA is really just FDMA (C4FM) with a different packet structure.

I think Uniden are bullshitting. The existing hardware probably can do phase 2, but if they convince everyone that the hardware can't do it, when they release a new "Phase 2 compatible" scanner everyone will happily hand their money over.
