Re: Loggings (Southern Region)
Does BHP Steel still have their 800mhz Moto trunk system running?
"Bus Service 476.875 ctcss 85.4" - a bus service on UHFCB CH19? Maybe a private minibus service? Classy, budget operations for radio comms!

Re: Loggings (Southern Region)
the bus services sounded large to me, they were talking about terminating route numbers and starting other route numbers etc
I also forgot to add to the list above that Wollongong Uni also have a second ctcss on their security freq. the second ctcss of 107.2 was used for ground staff and maintainence

Re: Loggings (Southern Region)
When I was living down there 10-15 years ago, I was monitoring that system - it was a nightmare to figure out what was going on as their radio procedures used a lot of short hand words and codes. Interestingly there was a second 800MHz system 500 meters up the road that was always on air but never used...freqwaves wrote:Does BHP Steel still have their 800mhz Moto trunk system running?

Re: Loggings (Southern Region)
Just some observations from Canberra a few weeks ago, Qantas, Virgin and Aerocare were all using DMR/MotoTRBO. Some good plane spotting areas in the rear carpark of the new shopping centre if anyone was interested, with clear views of the terminal, runways and RAAF hanger.
Action Buses are encrypted on the GRN down there now. Some ACT Fire Rescue appliances were in the clear on one of the ESA talkgroups during the fire near Queenbeyan, its rare to hear them clear. ACT Health had a handful of food inspectors using ACT Ambulance talkgroup 40028 in the clear during the Canberra Multicultural Festival on that same weekend.

Encryption for buses... that'll do me!
Re: Loggings (Southern Region)
From memory i have heard only one other bus group using encryption ...Shoreline buses on 165mhz runs voice privacy. At the other end of the spectrum i heard punchbowl buses last week still on analog on 466mhz.

Like most of the stuff you can hear inside that area, they weren't all that exciting when you could hear them. It started with the school bus ops TG and steadily worked its way from there.Encryption for buses... that'll do me
They could do us a favour and encrypt the parking inspectors.
At least RFS ops are still in the clear, that's about all id listen to on the TRN down there now.
Cheers

Re: Loggings (Southern Region)
ACT Government seem to be a bit obsessed with encryption. I just wonder what nefarious things the bus drivers are doing the need to hide from the public
