418.1250 was an active DMR TIII CC when I last checked (last week).

The network carried its first public passengers today, ahead of the official opening on Saturday. Canberra's light rail takes it first passengers on Thursday

I seem to recall seeing some DMR assignments registered to Canberra metro ops at a site on Isaacs Ridge a while back, but never got around to listening to them. The assignments have since disappeared. Perhaps they were doing some testing before deployment of the new network. As others have noted, it is interesting that they are not utilising the TRN, along with the rest of TCCS and ACTGOV, especially given the recent TRN infrastructure upgrades. It might be worth having a bit of a listen. Any ideas if the voice traffic is encrypted?

I live close to the Canberra Metro Light Rail, can you advise what radios to buy to receive DMR and how would it program it?

First post, A380, welcome aboard! I wouldn't have thought YSCB could handle an A380? ;)

Is it really worth buying a dedicated radio/scanner just to monitor the trolleys?

I'd probably start with a USB Tuner dongle and some free software such as DSD+ if you have a PC within range and just want to satisfy your curiosity, then outlay the big bucks for a DMR scanner if you find you can't live without hearing them when out 'n about?

Thanks for the welcome. Hopefully one day we will get to see an A380 land in Canberra.....

I'm in the market to buy a new scanner and looking at Uniden Usds100 with DMR upgrade which will also service as for GRN and Airband https://uniden.com.au/product/usds100/

I only have OSX....
