Post by cartman » Sun Aug 24, 2014 9:15 pm

First saw this on Vicradio zone today.... new AOR AR-DV1, then also on Radioreference

A new digital receiver has surfaced in Japan at the Tokyo Ham Radio Fair
Capable of decoding NXDN, P25, dPMR, D-Star and DMR .

A very impressive list of digital modes. Such a shame AOR are not on board with trunking technologies, it would almost undoubtably trump all other scanners on the market if they were.

A pipe dream no doubt, but here's dreaming.

Motorola's holding back on anyone developing a receiver to decipher Moto turbo?

There is very little mention of digital decoding in the manual, apart from decoding the stated mode.

As we know from Digital Signals Decoding software there is a very broad church of digital flavours out there eg: NXDN (4800, 9600, Conventional, trunked) and DMR (Conventional, trunking-capacity plus, trunking-connect plus) to state a few

For about $1600 Aussie dollars it is a pretty expensive bit of of kit. It will be interesting to read the feedback on RR once people start buying these radios.

I wonder if AOR will offer reprogramming of the FPGAs in their add-on P25 boards to do more digital modes?

Such a waste. :(

These are inline to get a urgent firmware upgrade very soon , lots of little bugs and issues with certain settings . AOR are aware of it and plan to release the update in a few weeks .
