Portable VHF Transceiver

Post by criten » Mon Jul 05, 2010 2:32 pm

Hi guys

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a good portable transceiver for the lower VHF band (70-80MHz) that supports repeaters and a place to purchase it from?

So far I can't find even a single supplier of such a transceiver

Several of them

66-88mhz
Simoco SRP8030
Simoco SRP9120 / SRP9130
Simoco SRP9170 /SRP9180 (check out the "multi vendor" connector on the side)
Entel HT916 / HT912 /HT915
Tait Orca5040
Icom IC-F31GS

Do you want me to list more ? there are plenty of them.

you can even enjoy 68mhz, P25 with AES Encryption with some of the radios above :)

Andrew, any P25 signal can be encrypted - the band is irrelevant. Hell, I've even transmitted P25 on 23cm (1.2Ghz) and 13cm (2.4GHz) HAM bands.

Berry - I know that VHF and 800MHz P25 existed but I've never heard it in Oz.

Who's using it? can we have some frequencies?

Cheers,
Matt

I would appreciate moar if you can...

So far only found the Simoco SRP8030 on fleabay.

P25 & encryption are irrelevant to me - the repeater is analog.
