Portable Shack

Hi All,

Each year i partake in a couple of WICEN NSW events. Ever time i winge to myself about dragging equipment out of my second shack in the shed, packing them up and them unpacking at the radio checkpoint and having radios flopping about on a camping table.

So finally I got of my backside and started to build a portable shack in a box.

Basically it will house permanently a FT897 (HF) FT8800 (VHF/UHF) a scanner of course and what ever else i can cram in. When not portable it will be my second shack in the workshop.

The front opens and the back clips of to attach coax and power, there will be a drawer for pens and stuff. It will have handles and the whole thing can be picked up and put in the back of the dual cab.

Here is some progress photos,

I will post some more pics as i progress if people are interested. Any helpful suggestions welcomed.

Ha ha, yes it is, I didn't have time for this sort of project before. Still trying to decide what sort of scanner to mount in the unit. I think it might be my radio shack pro-197.

Nice one Kev!

Is that RigRunner equipped with the standard 15/30/45A PowerPoles?

Cheers,
Matt

I like your thinking Kev.

Given I just joined WICEN again, probably something worthwhile looking at myself.

I did see a Pelican Hard Case setup as a Portable Field Comm's Box with a IC-7000 HF and FT-8900 Dual Band a couple of months ago, did look good but the box was about $400 by itself, thinking should be able to do the same as you for well under $400.

If anyone is looking for a Pelican case for such a project, I have a brand new genuine Pelican 600 X 500 X 200 mm never been used $250.
