will you haer these on air band frquincie or will they be encrypted
im thinking enc doesnt hurt to ask? :)

the interesting stuff would probly be on split spectrum military radios, so basically snowballs chance in hell of being able to track them...

If they are operating in Civilian Airspace, then at least their 'Air Band' transmissions have to be 'in the clear' so other aircraft, and Air Traffic Controllers, can hear them.

when in the clear on civil air band, they often use other callsigns, this was evident during APEC

if there working around the sydney CBD wouldnt they be on the helicopters west frequency? or sydney radar?

Yes they would. They would also be using a discrete frequency for air to air comes between the aircraft. This probably won't be encrypted, if you can find it it. Army have a huge number of VHF low band frequencies to choose from, so good luck getting the right one at right time! you

exactly, and as well as that you might pick it up but might not know what the heck they are on about as unless you know the terminology used it'll mean nothing

I saw them last night as well near the M4 somewhere about St Marys heading west with just one red light on each chopper
Saw them (3 black hawks) last Thursday during the daytime flying low level near the M4 around blacktown and again at homebush at about 500 feet
