That would be the approach for 07 (if you are west of the airport)??

There is currently a technician working on Lord Howe Island installing equipment for ADS-B ..... suppose to be operational at YLHI in a week or so.
I was talking to him briefly over breakfast (he was staying at my lodge)

I am also hooked up now on ADS-B using the plane gadget receiver - for $369 + 25 euro for planeplotter
The supplied aerial isn't really getting me far at the moment so i am using the "shared" feed, which is a godsend

Gday to all
I have just bought the PlaneGadget ADS-B Radar rxing unit, PGR-2 v2.2 from the Aussie dealer in Victoria for only $359 to your door, I am very keen to see it when it gets here. I see that the AirNav Radarbox software is being used by Jack. I would like to know if I can use it with the system I have just bought and if so how much is the software ? I have read that PlaneGadget unit comes with Plane Plotter software but the graphical interface doesn't look anywhere near as good as the AirNav RadarBox 3D software. look forward to getting it up and running and I will you know how I go during setup and shake down phase. 73z E=mc2

FYI, If you need a cheap good external antenna, get a mobile phone antenna, works a treat!

Not the window ones, its the big black 5DBi ones..

ADS-B

Gday all,
I have the PlaneGadget ADS-B Radar rxing unit, PGR-2 v2.2 and it comes with the Plane Plotter Lite software it is ok but not as nice a GIF as the AirNav Radar Box 3D. I would like to know if anyone is using the PlaneGadget ADS-B Radar rxing unit, PGR-2 v2.2 with the AirNav Radar Box 3D and if so how are you finding it ? I think it is about $200 for the AirNav Radar Box 3D software. I have downloaded AirNav Radar Box and have been running it in the Demo mode, it is cut down to the max and will only work in London UK for a short time so very hard to get a handle on how it works. I would like to hear from other who are running PlaneGadget ADS-B Radar rxing unit with the Radar Box 3D and how it goes in other modes ie rxing local Acars using a scanner and say a Signalink box ? I dont want to spend 200 and have to get a activation code when I need to do a windows reinstall as I have had this issue when I bought a Ansett A320 manual just after 9/11 and was not able to get an activation code due to the head hunting of anyone who had or has any interest in anything to do with airliners at all, I was not able to get a refund so I have a great Ansett A320 manual in pdf but I am not able to open it because I may be a terrorist. Anyone who has an interest in airliners ie plane spotters, real world flight sim gift's, HF airline / military surplus radio gear will have found themselves under some form of scan. Just because I am paranoid dont mean I am not in the sights of the big bad Gov LOL. No not that bad but it has been a problem since 9/11 for most of us into airliners we are now not able to go up to the flight deck not able to buy any airliner - military grade communications gear without a filling out a phone book size load of applications and request forms and even then being an Australian and a licences Amateur Radio operator you will have very little chance of being given the nod. I have tried to buy a Collins ARC-190 http://www.columbiaelectronics.com/ and it was going to be a nightmare, the bloke at columbiaelectronics was great it is the Homeland Security people who have huge issues. Anyhow I was able to buy a Sunair ASB-100 x 2 from the RAAF for $70 each so I ah happy with that. Anyhow thats all for now, I look forward to hearing from others who are into ADS-B and can help with information re my questions above. 73z E=mc2
