Richmond Tower 382.675MHz P25
Richmond Tower 382.675MHz P25
Hi all,
Looks like Richmond tower - 135.500MHz - is being rebroadcasted in P25, on 382.675MHz. For some reason, it isn't listen on ACMA at all.
Cheers,
Matt

250 to 399.975 MHz is the Military Aeronautical Band, and as such has usually been left to the Military to manage.citabria wrote:Hi all,

It was "AM Only" for many years (from the late 50s / early 60s), but about 30 years ago, they started to use FM in the last 10 to 20 MHz of the Band. This included Cross Band Repeaters which allowed aircraft to talk directly to Emergency Service Agencies, without the need for either party to be equipped with both AM, and FM radios. Repeaters set up in this manner, are sometimes referred to as Cross Band Translators (XBT), as they "translate" between AM and FM, and vice versa.

135.050 is a typo for 135.500. https://web.acma.gov.au/rrl/assignment_ ... ID=1269859
Re: Richmond Tower 382.675MHz P25
Not the case any longer - the 380-400MHz spectrum is now used by many others, and they all have licenses on ACMA. It is now used by commercial users, in addition to government and military - yes, some of which even have dedicated licenses.
As per other threads on here, fixed bases in the milair band are usually licensed too - such as this one --> https://web.acma.gov.au/rrl/assignment_ ... ID=1033116
The other licenses on 380MHz are listed in a simple ACMA search:-
https://web.acma.gov.au/rrl/assignment_ ... &pOFFSET=0
Given the addition of 380-400MHz to most public safety radios available now, it makes sense that this band has opened up to other users as well.

Yes!!
If you have a scanner that can display the P25 Radio ID field for the tower re-broadcast, you can see it was put in incorrectly, and I copied the mistake into my post!!

The Richmond Ground P25 channel has a RID of 121065.
Re: Richmond Tower 382.675MHz P25
Wouldn't happen to have a NAC? Wondering if they're using the same for all same purpose setups.

Re: Richmond Tower 382.675MHz P25
A friend in Adelaide tells me Edinburgh RAAF is also using 382.675MHz with a NAC of 60.

I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure the NAC for Richmond is also 0x060.
Another thing I am curious about, is if the link works in the opposite direction - for example, if someone talks on P25, does that then come out on the VHF airband frequency as well?
