Xmas Holiday Traffic - Mid North Coast

Post by cartman » Fri Dec 23, 2011 12:37 pm

It's started again on the mid north coast - the xmas traffic snarls, except it is still a couple of days before xmas
On thursday (22nd) there were 3km traffic jams at Kempsey and delays to 15 minutes crossing the bridge over the river .... today it is 11km northbound (1 hour delay) and 2km southbound.
I came up yesterday (to Port Macquarie) with a friend - traffic was pretty thin but lots of extra highway patrol sedans and bikes
Obviously a greater volume of traffic today
Listening on the local Ch 10-36 (468.0750/468.725) sites at Port Macquarie where it is still analogue

MOTORISTS heading north for holidays are experiencing lengthy delays, with a 17-kilometre queue at Bulahdelah on the mid-north NSW coast.

Northbound motorists on the Pacific Highway are stuck in traffic jams approaching Bulahdelah, with delays of more than an hour and a half.

"This traffic originates from Sydney and filters up the coastline," NSW Transport Management Centre senior spokesperson David Wright said.

"The most significant delay is at Bulahdelah, where there has been heavy rain."

Heavy holiday traffic is also being experienced for northbound motorists near Kempsey on the Pacific Highway, where there are delays of up to 75 minutes.

There is also a seven-kilometre northbound queue near Macksville, adding a further 30 minutes’ travel time.
