Thunder Run

Post by brianWE » Sun Oct 05, 2008 9:06 am

Harley Owners Group (HOG) are having a run on the North Coast, today. In the Byron bay area.
Expecting 1500-2000 Harley riders to participate.
Could be some serious traffic snarls as there are other events taking place...a music festival and, I think, an Aboriginal Rugby league carnival.
Traffic is always bad over long weekends...makes you wonder why people come here year after year.

As an aside, two Harleys were stolen from a locked garage the other night. One was recovered. Supposedly, a $70,000 machine.???
Cops were looking for a rental pantech truck seen in the area at the time.
Don't know how the biggy was recovered. Dumped as being too hot to handle??

Local paper said there were 2200 bikes.
Impressive.
Two prangs that I heard. One bloke went to hospital but was to be released later, yesterday.

No major dramas from the rugby league people, yet....but, I believe, it has been close a few times.

Just read a report that six bikes were stolen over the weekend.
Only one recovered.
Guessing they were all Harleys.
