V8 supercar Radio

Post by lxth7 » Tue Feb 24, 2015 11:03 pm

2015 season about to start with a change for track listening. No retransmission of the drivers communication in analogue.
Damm digital . Have to start learning kenwood dig. And have it down pat by Bathurst
The Radio guys at eastern creek test, hinted that there are plans for a broadcaster to stream the audio.

I heard only one frequency broadcasting NXDN during the last race at Sydney (Dec 2014) and that was the safety car channel
Everybody else (ie v8 teams) were in analog mode
However it is possible that analog maybe preferred at Homebush due to the amount of concrete, and that NXDN was being used at other tracks

manner to enable listening access” includes, but is not limited to,

They still had team comms on the TV broadcast today, so they must still be rebroadcasting/running the analogue.

as per the v8's operation manual 2015

20.1.1.6 V8 Supercars’ radio frequency contractor will publish a list of all Team
frequencies that are required to be monitored prior to each Meeting.

20.1.1.7 For VCS Teams, all pit to Car and Car to pit communication must be via the
digital frequency and RAN as supplied by the V8 Supercars radio frequency
contractor.

20.1.1.8 Teams are permitted to use digital or analogue radio frequencies for all
other than pit to Car and Car to pit communication

From what I observed yesterday, all cars and race management are using NXDN. None of the cars were heard in analog at all. A lot of the media was analog still(links, commentary, directors)
