Re: LTR ?

Post by cartman » Sat Dec 17, 2011 9:53 pm

Did a head count today on what is left of LTR in Sydney from my location at Blacktown. Seems a lot less active these days, therefore users will be need to be re-verified (most of RR's listing are mine).

The System 2 on Sydney Tower is difficult to hear because the aerials point down horizontally - not in the vertical plane like System 1(though I can still hear it from 30km with line of sight). Some outer sites have been converted to NXDN (Blaxland) or greatly reduced - to 1 or 2 channels (eg Dural and Horsley Park with some frequencies handed over to the NXDN network)

Patrick Stevedores maybe in the middle of switching to NXDN - I can faintly hear the LTR pulse on 505.4125 and 505.71250 and what appears to be a NXDN signal on 506.3250

That does seem to be Vertel's way of converting equipment ... turn off the frequency, pull the old stuff out then install brand new nxdn equipment
