Also have to take into account the other agency at Potts Hill (Chullora)

And still no site to cover the hole in the Macquarie Fields, Ingleburn, Minto areas. The nearest existing sites being Heathcote, Horsley Park and Razorback.

Maybe this new residential tower at the top of Liverpool can be a new site location?

Thanks commsmc, love yer work!

Site 001-066 updated (as above), and one peer added to site 001-068 thanks to Scotty, as well as chasing the other side of those peers up 'n down the list of course.

The problem is, unless the legislation has changed recently, BDA sites don't have to be licenced on the ACMA, in fact I don't know why they even bothered licencing the SPC site?

So there could well be a dozen new 'in-building' sites in the works which we know nothing about, and if there are multiple buildings that share a GRN site number it may be very difficult to track them down too?

If you need a hand updating the .kml file with the unknown sites Matt, just give me a yell?

I don't (think I) have access to wherever the file is hosted so you would need to email it to me, I'll make the changes and return it to you?

Also, I see you've started to change all the site numbers in that .kml file too?

We're getting close to exceeding 100 sites in a couple of zones now and I was worried that it's gonna get confusing with the old numbering system (IE. telling the difference between the old site 101 (actually 001-001) and the new site 001-101), when and if it happens of course.

Speaking of future expansion, Wonky, I hope you don't mind too much but "one day" I may have to delete your post quoted above to make room if they ever create any new zones (sorry, RFSS's), like RFSS 004 for the North Coast, or RFSS 005 for South Western NSW?

I was having a look at some telco documents, in particular the NSWGRN Indoor Radio Services Design Guideline (March 2015)

It gives numerous diagrams at the end of the guideline .... NSWGRN Hidden Host setup for the 20km GPT Sydney CBD link to Hornsby Westfield Shoppingtown, except that it hasnt happened yet (nothing listed on ACMA). Seems odd to go to that detail if it wasnt planned for the near future

One to watch out for

Nice find cartman, thanks!

As you say, that's very specific just for an "example shopping centre" to publish?

All of those frequencies mentioned, including the link freqs, are actually existing on site 001-049, which already services the Harbour Tunnel and Bondi Junction BDA sites, so it would be easy to implement an addition 'outlet' at any number of in-building sites?

Trouble is, as I mentioned earlier, the ACMA website specifies that low-power BDA systems don't have to be licenced, so this Hornsby Westfield site (or indeed any other similar site) could already be in operation and showing locally as "Site 001-049", especially considering that document is over two years old?

I also note that the other 'outlet' end of the 500MHz links aren't licenced at either the Harbour Tunnel nor Bondi Junction sites either, so if we can assume that sets a precedent for other sites then finding these new sites may come down to shoe leather!

If anyone happens to be touring any shopping centres take your scanner with you, if you see site 001-049 (416.3000) or 001-050 (417.5125) pop up then you've likely discovered a new BDA site...

DOH! I just realised that all the frequencies registered to that Martin Place site (in our "Unknown" sites list) match the GPT 001-049 sites:
---------
ACMA Site ID 203482
Name Vodafone/Telstra Site Underground Chamber in Martin Place near cnr Pitt St
Location SYDNEY NSW 2000
Precision Unknown
HCIS Level 2 NV7M
Lat,Long (GDA94) -33.867964°,151.208623°

415.8000
416.3000 - CC
416.8000
417.3000 - ACC
417.8000
419.3000

All freqs above:
Date Authorised 07-DEC-16
Emission Designator 10K1F9W
Antenna Unknown antenna type, size or specifications
---------
What do you think, would Martin Place (where ever the antenna is) be another site 001-049? Can somebody go for a wander around there too (I'd do it myself except it's a four hour drive each way)?

Yep, but they're only low-powered, typically 5 watts (versus 50 watts for an external site).

They would show up as any other site would once you're within range, but you will hear traffic from all the sites linked to the same host, so you might hear voice from the Harbour Tunnel on the Bondi Junction site for example.

While the ACMA may not require these sites to be licenced, do we know of any BDA sites that are not listed on the ACMA register?

That's a good idea.
