RID 2929132 affiliated with TG10123. Message passed was from Rescue Pumper 503 (Wollongong) to Control. Could have been a bridge (smart or otherwise) but the audio sounded too good. So not sure.

Hello Richard are you there?

ADDENDUM:

Rusty,

2929132 is the P25 BIM ID (the patch is being done by connecting one 4.1 BIM to a P25 BIM). This will appear every time a radio or operator on the 4.1 side tx's. I guess the patched audio mustn't be too bad! The only station you should hear on P25, for now, is Queanbeyan. Their ID will give them away.

Cheers,

Richard

Does the BIM do any vocoding or does it pass voice in digital form?

It is just a trumped up 4 wire (600ohm) + signalling interface designed to connect the Centracom to the outside analogue world. I'm 99.9% sure there is no vocoding done in a BIM.

Cheers,

Richard

2929132 BIM is running in P25 encryption this afternoon on Talkgroup 10126 which if we take the leaks as corrects is "D307 ACT-NSW 10126"

Probably, all I know is that we are not using that BIM-BIM patch as we were while only Queanbeyan were on P25. We now have a console running on the P25 network as there are no Wollongong GRN stations still on 4.1. In other words we don't need it anymore. For those scratching their heads at what is going on- when the "P25 console" is running a 207xxxx ID will be seen. Moto are using this ID group for Centracoms. When the operator is using an RF control (so that they can use a 4.1 console so that they can answer PMR traffic as well as GRN traffic) you will see the RF control ID (200xxxx). The audio from the back up is not as clear because of compression on the link back to the CEB. This is a project underway now- to get rid of this link- as compression & P25 do not like each other.

Cheers,

Richard

I have been listening off Chullora this afternoon to Newcastle Fire Channel D112
The patch/link to the North PMR sound great on digital (logged the 207XXXX rids for dispatchers and linbks)
Even heard a Queensland appliance call up ("570 Sierra" at about 1910hrs)
The "local" appliances on 10112 are booming in

For reasons which are not that clear to me, the Wollongong Comms pmr patch doesn't sound as good at the moment ... more tweaking or links to come?

Grant

PS That 107 digital site has only 5 channels currently (i control 4 voice) but is get a fair working over by various agencies ..... saw it "full" quite a few times
