Mike.

Got home last night and tested out this way for new control channels. Nothing so far, but my guess is it won't be long now.

Bemboka is Zone 3 Site 38
Brown Mt is Zone 3 Site 39
Cooma (Mt Gladstone) is Zone 3 Site 15

Re P25 control channels up and running
I got the P25 version of Unitrunker running off Little Bay on basically 0 health for a couple of mins on Sat morning and it was repeating some local traffic (i recall seeing 757356 which i have as the old rescue 11 but is now probably a responder)
However the windows version of Unitrunker is very unstable at best on my PC - i couldn't even get the Analogue Type II working a few mins later (which is why i don't like Unitrunker these days .... the retro version is much more stable and Trunk 88 is even better)
All the P25 control channel sites are still up and running as far as I can hear.
Correct me if i am wrong but the testing seems to be happening at each site on the alternate control channel.

hi all, yeah thats correct cartman. i use the GUI version of unitrunker and if your look at the analogue site of say Horsley park or chullora, the P25 control channels show up as Alternate control channels. interestingly i was in sydney over the weekend and noticed the Belrose analogue site had picked up another alternative control channel and on my trip home the Freestone (site122) had also another alternatvie control channel, both however were dead at this stage.
cheers all

Was over Manly way today and stopped at a high location at Fairlight on the way back to have a quick scan for anything interesting. A new P25 control channel has popped up on 419.4375 - I understand from Mike Alpha this is at Collaroy Plateau and was active on Tuesday when he was up that way. I was unable to check on the ID being transmitted but if it follows convention to date it should be 02D1h-0229 Collaroy

ACTIVE P25 CONTROL CHANNELS
415.9625 - 02D1h-0145 Horsley park
416.8750 - 02D1h-0148 GPT
417.0000 - 02D1h-0107 Chullora
417.4875 - 02D1h-0108 Glenbrook
417.5375 - 02D1h-0127 Katoomba
419.4375 - 02D1h-0229 Collaroy
419.5750 - 02D1h-0122 Little Bay

Is anyone hearing much activity on these channels? I have heard a bit of P25 testing on Horsely Park, howvever Im at work during the day and I don't really get a chance to listen during business hours (I'm assuming that they only test during the day)

These channels have come at a good time - I have recently acquired a GNUradio USRP software radio so I can capture the control channels and hopefully the OP25 project can be expanded to do P25 control channel analysis.

Cheers,
Matt

Have been monitoring the Glenbrook P25 CC on and off since Monday, but have not heard any activity on it at this stage.

Have a friend in Mt Druitt who I programmed up his 996T with the Horsley Park P25 Site a couple days after it was discovered. He has stated hearing what sounded like testing transmissions on the Horsley Park P25 CC a couple of times.

I programmed the Glenbrook P25 Site into his 996T last Friday from memory.

That's interesting Grant, my 996 is decoding the 419.4375 CC as 02D1h-0117 which is, following convention, Mt Arthur and I can assure you I can't recive Mt Arthur at my place.....or can I?? :?

Perhaps the sites have been renumbered since that infamous paper detailing what sites were what appeared in 2007
That was it's old id
All i had on me was a us uniden 246 and was simply doing a quick scan through

PS I was more intent on getting home after a day of snorkelling at Cabbage tree bay (on my day off) after having my first encounter with a shark in 2 metres of water ... it was a harmless 2m Port Jackson.
Don't worry ... I am wearing my Shark Shield strapped to the ankle which keeps the predatory ones at least 8 metres away
The folk who were gobbled, nibbled and chewed on earlier in the year (including the navy clearance diver) were not fitted with this device .... an electrical field which freaks out the sharks except the harmless ones like Port Jackson

I don't care about sharks.

From what i've gathered, the "old numbering system" was limited by the 48 site per zone limitation (later to become 64 I think) in the early versions of SmartZone Omnilink. Since P25 trunking is a newer standard with support for coverage over much larger geographical areas, I wouldn't be surprised if the site ID's ended up different.

Cheers,
Matt
