Not true, I have been hearing channel X (police)being put over some of the ESO channels, as well as the police using them as back channels. Don't know who is behind this, maybe police testing, maybe GRN techs doing this.

Channel X is a patch at the VKG/GRN level, i should have clarified and said at the moment there aren't any general duties police running around with grn portables

I'd imagine the grn are doing testing similiar to what was done on the 4.1 system when people were reporting hearing different channels being re-broadcast on grn...

This patch is intended for other ESO agencies (plus RTA) to be able to contact VKG by radio. Police do not normally use the GRN except for special ops- yet. The patch was something that the other agencies asked for as an easy means of providing interoperability. There is also a conventional channel for Police Aviation liaison.

Interesting, I'm noticing a few talkgroups using AES-256...

Talkgroup 10019 VKG Link

Post by cartman » Tue Aug 03, 2010 12:14 pm

I am currently monitoring Site 102 Beecroft for the past 30hrs with Pro96.com and the Pro96
One of the SES Comms people has his radio or spare radio affiliated to Talkgroup 10019, apparently since 6.37pm last night according to the Pro96.com log
They are only affiliated to Beecroft and not GPT
Everytime the police on channel whiskey talk, Beecroft retranmits the link (radio id 291XXXX) and essentially ties up one of three available voice frequencies.
I am a little suprised that the SES folk are doing this given the low number of voice frequencies available at the moment.
Almost all the voice traffic at Beecroft goes through two frequencies (413.1375 and 419.3875), with the alternate control channel hardly being used

That would make a lot of sense
Those earlier reported radio checks were regional talkgroup names, not radios
Hence

10622 - Integral Energy - Katoomba
10624 - Integral Energy - Penrith 1
10625 - Integral Energy - Penrith 2
10626 - Integral Energy - Windsor
10627 - Integral Energy - Kings Park 1
10628 - Integral Energy - Kings Park 2
10629 - Integral Energy - Parramatta 1
10630 - Integral Energy - Parramatta 2
10631 - Integral Energy - Hoxton 1
10632 - Integral Energy - Hoxton 2
10633 - Integral Energy - Narellan 1
10634 - Integral Energy - Narellan 2
10645 - Integral Energy - Radio techs and workshop
10649 - Integral Energy - ?
