Here are some pics of the radios I and others use for sailing and canoeing rescue
Front view 13.8v AC to DC power supply I picked up 2nd hand the base marine radio is a uniden mc2800 27mhz 4w power output the handheld is a GME brand GX292 I find it quite hard to hear through the plastic case and over the 2 stroke outboard.

The GME portable is now in land fill salt water damage and the base in the boat also was under water for at least 2 hours but still works!

The real question is if the device was powered on. If its powered on you risk damage due to shorts.

Its actually part of the manufacturing process for PCBs to wash them with water.

Despite common belief, water does no damage to electronics if the electronics are not powered on.

the gme portable was off,the screen full of water, battery terminals rusted and antenna snapped off
the uniden was turned on and had a quick wash with fresh water
