UBCD436-PT officially released

Post by Scotty » Tue Nov 10, 2015 4:06 pm

Uniden advise their new Aussie handheld is available.

Comes specifically pre-programmed for Victoria CFA/etc. Can anyone in the know advise if it can be reprogrammed for other services, especially for those of use not in Victoria?

Interesting... I doubt these scanners would be "locked" as many brigades/members would want to add other local frequencies, but it would likely be a case of manual entry unless Uniden supplies software with each unit?

The units offer full functionality. They are able to be programmed for other services and networks.

Inital units are for CFA exclusively with a later release for the general public planned.

The first 3,500 arrived the other week.

It's been on the horizon for some time now.

Check CFA Media releases also.

Official sites indicate a limited number will be available to CFA members for $150, so guaranteed to find some on eBay within days of release for substantially more :)

On that note, the same site indicates the $150 units are subsidised by the CFA for about 70% of their price from Uniden, stated as being $446.75. The document suggests the public price will be up to $700 - hmm, is Uniden taking us for a ride with their pricing?
