Retail store staff radios

Post by freqwaves » Tue Dec 23, 2014 5:27 pm

I've started to notice staff in big department stores wearing in-ear radio headsets. Although I haven't spotted the radio the model on the market which has become popular is the Motorola CLP1060 Two Way Radio.
It is very small & discrete & operates in the UHF band. Output may only be 1watt so you need to be in close range.
My local Kmart has just registered 462.3625 which is licensed to alot of stores across the country.
Specs on the radio at:

K Mart have several 462MHz freqs across the state, each store uses one freq, but with two tones giving them two channels.

Big W use to have a state wide freq but this was stopped approx 9 years ago, we now use UHF CB

David Jones and Myer still have their own in store freqs

I dont think it is acma type approved - the cb band in the usa (462mhz) is our business band
It might explain why kmart is licensed on that frequency

The CLP1060 is capable of any frequency between 450-470 and can be programmed by the CPS, these radios have been marketed on the Motorola Business Line and seem to be rather cheap.
