Strange frequency...
G'day all,
I noticed today after programming all the RFS PMR channels for my district and surrounding districts, that 466.550 (Baulkham Hills - Wisemans Ferry) is giving me somewhat... Police or Ambulance chatter. I looked it up in the ACMA database, but there's nothing nearby other than the Rural Fire Service registration.
I heard things like "Station 71 closing" "23-54", "Looks like we have a person down, reports are that the person was doing a burnout and hit a bystander", etc.
I'm picking this up clearly in Thornleigh, NSW.
Anyone have any clue?
Cheers.

Re: Strange frequency...
Is there any CTCSS or DCS tone(s) on the frequency?
Re: Strange frequency...
Is there a mall in the area?
Sounds like security-speak.
Sounds like security-speak.
Re: Strange frequency...
Maybe its the rangers for the Baulkham Hills council. Many RFS used to share channels with the councils years ago, so maybe thats show is using it since the Baulkham Hills RFS still don't use their PMR channels hey were allocated.

Wouldn't know, my scanner doesn't allow CTCSS/DCS tones in scan mode.citabria wrote:Is there any CTCSS or DCS tone(s) on the frequency?
Hornsby Westfield is up the road, but doesn't sound like anything they'd say; things like "Station 71".brianWE wrote:Is there a mall in the area?

I'll keep a listen out and see if I can figure it out.

Nah, definitely wasn't firies. It came across as more Ambo chatter, but then there are other conflicting messages! I haven't heard much on it today either. I'll keep listening!Mike Alpha wrote:I don't know what relevence this might have, but Station 71 Is NSWFB Castle Hill

Re: Strange frequency...
some rfs districts do refer to their stations by number, i know i used to hear it quite alot on tg 28128 being sutherland district with certain people.
Baulkham Hills RFS use VHF as their primary communications anyways, and i believe the vhf is licensed to the council rather than to the rfs.
