I can't speak for the RFS boys but I'd guess that there were practical reasons behind choosing this area. One is that the link paths between sites lend itself to the 4GHz links they are using. Secondly I know they have done a deal with a local radio company/site owner to share the costs of new huts & towers- hence making it more cost effective than some other areas. There are going to be BIG challenges making the 4GHz links practical in many areas...
