Re: UK seeks to replace TETRA with LTE as early as 2016
P25 will dominate in NSW for many years to come. Simple. Finally somebody talking reality! P25 is here to stay for a long time. I could have sworn this thread was about TETRA in the UK. The reality there is completely different... And there in lies the problem... people trying to predict what is be...

P25 will dominate in NSW for many years to come. Simple. Cut through all the dreamers and all the vendor/network manager driven spruikers posting here and get back to reality. If you talk to the do'ers in the agencies they will tell you that the biggest problem in the radio industry are people witho...

Re: Mounting a Yagi?
Mike, YB series yagis are supposed to be END mounted- behind the reflector. The mast should be earthed because you don't want the earth return to be down your feeder if there is a lightning strike... You never ever clamp them in the centre because the mast is going to seriously impact on the radiati...

Re: FRNSW "FIRE STUDY"
JAFO if anyone doesn't believe you I know first hand that care needs to be taken if you are employed by one of these agencies... it might not bite you as described, but you can have a whole heap of aggravation come down on you. It is not fun having to justify your own comments based on community int...

Re: Commercial Pilot streams ATC without consent
That release also has me a bit puzzled... it says "New Zealand gives effect to those requirements through..."... well what does the Act say? This has such broad implications that to apply it to one case and not all the others, such as Police and emergency service transmissions, seems hard to justify...

Re: Fire and Rescue NSW upgrades to Tait P25
Wollongong is no more... PMR networks are normally run via Newcastle but at any time can be run from Sydney if needed. They regularly test them via both centres.

Re: Fire and Rescue NSW upgrades to Tait P25
That is OK if you have the infrastructure to support both... out west there wasn't & I think the rest of the networks will be upgraded the same way- FRNSW have the ability to keep parts of the old network live while updating sites but it is tricky. Plods can do things differently because they often ...
