Re: Digital system to expand...

I have been told the early Motorola Sabre's would do midband. Never seen one. have found several references on the web to it however. I don't play with Simoco much but does the P25 option in the SRM9000 apply to midband ? Col The original (analogue, 1980's vintage) SABER was available in midband, t...

Re: Digital system to expand...

Hey, if they're rich enough to not need the money, more power to them 8-)

They're just doing their more sensible competitors a favour.

Re: SELCAL decoding software

The fun thing about selcall systems is that there's no real standardisation other than tone frequencies. The radios themselves let you do all kinds of bizarre things, and the users and vendors have a habit of taking advantage of that.

Re: Commercial CB listing

PL (or anything but CSQ) on the input is against the conditions of the license, so you'd sure hope the repeater isn't using it.

Re: Motorola P25 Radios Help

An XTS3000 can be had for under $200 if you look around so it's not necessarily more expensive than a scanner. Less flexible, but given that I've got the equipment already for other reasons and it does the job for me, i'm happy.

Re: Motorola P25 Radios Help

If you want to RX the NSW GRN only via single towers and pass all talkgroups, they will work just fine(in fact, sound better then any scanner). Ive got several W3's monitoring different towers. No affiliation at all. just set it up to scan all freq's on the tower ex control channel and alt control ...

Re: Motorola P25 Radios Help

If you are going to do that you may as well use an old Tait or Philips radio that have a better receiver than a cruddy old XTS... can't really see the point to setting up a radio to listen to snippets of conversations- that would drive me nuts! This actually works well if you're in an area where th...

Re: Quantum Paging in Receivership

Yeah, I've got family out that way. Easiest place in the world to build a radio network!

You can key the Narrandera CB repeater with a portable for about 40km in each direction pretty easily. (Getting in over the top of the music players is another issue.)

Re: Quantum Paging in Receivership

Wonder why they picked Griffith and surrounds, of all places to start rolling out P25 PMR.

Low risk option in case of teething problems? RFS aren't exactly run off their feet out there during fire season.

Re: Quantum Paging in Receivership

More likely to be P25 PMR. ACMA likes to use F9W for mixed mode FM/P25. Being a narrowband channel, it's too narrow for POCSAG, which is 16K0F2D.

420-430 is part of the new "government band", and is no longer limited to MDTs.
