You're not supposed to be talking to firecom when in BA! You're only supposed to be using simplex frequencies. The Z is a scan symbol. Because voting is a "vote scan" for Motorola it's still a scan and it means the radio is scanning.

I've not seen the T but it sounds like it's for trunking if anything.
