Re: Airband antenna advice

Receive bandwidths are generally much greater that the measured transmit bandwidth (as measured by Return Loss / SWR). I have successfully facilitated both receive and transmit (Mt Allyn / Barrington Tops to helucopter over Hornsby) on airband (around 130 MHz), using a standard VHF Highband folded d...

Re: ACT emergency radio network to undergo $15 million upgra

The ACT TRN (actually ACT ESA) own their base stations, links etc. They work in concert with NSW GRN but have their own managment cell within ACT ESA.

Re: Busies/denials during emergencies - RFS wasting resource

Gosh I could say a few things here. Those of you who know my last job will understand. Re: What's happening with Waverley Tower?

It's heritage listed, and still has working radio services.

Re: Busies/denials during emergencies - RFS wasting resource

Old news. GRN NOCC had this talk with RFS HQ numerously between 1995 and 2009.

Limiting talkgroups to geographic areas also discussed ... and not agreed.

Slow learners it appears.

Re: What's happening with Waverley Tower?

Just a 30m tower height reduction.

90 tonne of steel removed.

Unused antennas were removed, platform removed etc.

Actually at site today with some base station switching as the riggers change some antennas around.

If only I could remember how to post a pic!

Re: 'Firies' TV Series on Channel 10

It's certainly not meant for entertaining other Firefighters :-) .... but .... probably not a bad thing to give some snapshots of FRNSW. Its appraoch appears to be "what would be interesting to the general public". A bit like some shows that focus on Australian police and on Border Protection. So fo...
