Re: Icom IC-R20
There isn't a direct equivalent for the IC-R20. The IC-R8500 is from the same era, but is more professionally oriented. Icom haven't really done a "consumer" desktop since the IC-R100.

Re: New PF radio sites licenced
As a former local I am going to guess the East Maitland site will be to address some terrain issues around that area. There are some small hills that would have a definite impact on reception. And that area is currently growing really fast!

Re: ICOM IC R30
Horses for courses...
As an airband listener you just can't beat Icom receivers.
The bluetooth, GPS, and dualwatch make the R30 worth the money for me, and the kind of listening I do.
In the end it comes down to what you want from the receiver.

Re: ASNSW PMR P25 or analog?
A better question would be will they change over the PMR allocations to P25? Or maybe something else?

Re: Sydney Basin
I am guessing, but I would say the system would still be set up so they could break the channel into two if there was a major incident. That is definitely the case in country areas, so I can only assume Sydney would have a similar set up.

Re: NSW SES Profile V1
Doing a bit of re-programming this morning. SES in Albury are now on P25. They were doing some radio testing and made reference to using the "new" radios.

Re: Ambulance radio issues news article
I have pasted the article below (there are ways and means around the Daily Terrorgraph's paywall ;)) The article is a mish-mash of claims. NSWPF don't use GRN for routine comms, so I don't know how they are relevant. Albury is outside the GRN footprint, and James Kydd doesn't nominate the town the i...
